Welcome to another empties post! I finally have a easy system where I’ve started keeping all my empties in one spot and not in every spot in the house where I can’t find everything. Yay for organising. A lot of these products are ones that I couldn’t finish because I hated them so much so grab some tea and get ready to read.
Twilight is an amazing scent that Lush create and it has lots of lovely lavender. I use this spray as a body spray and I spray it on my pillow and sheets before bed to help me sleep. If you get anxious, stressed or have trouble sleeping I definitely recommend trying this spray or the Sleepy body lotion. Lavender essential oil has been used for centuries to treat stress and aid in calming down.
I’m obsessed with bath salts at the moment and I’ve been wanting to try The Physic Garden bath soaks for ages and finally picked them up to try. I used the Glow one the last two weeks and it smells amazing. It has Lemon Myrtle leaf and essential oil and smells amazing. It also has sea salt, Himalayan salt and epsom salt which helps with sore muscles. The Calendula helps nourish the skin as well and left my skin looking glowly. The only downside I have with the product is that it doesn’t come in a bigger size because I went through the 220g size super fast!
INK Body Scrub $24.95
I had and still kind of have a bad problem with hoarding beauty products and having multiples of similar items. This ink body scrub was one of those that sat in my bathroom for well over a year (maybe 2). I had this body scrub for that long that the company now no longer exists. Recently I’ve been trying to use everything I have and no hoard items without using them. And I’ve also been trying to just have what I need and when I run out to just buy another.
This body scrub was soooo good and I’m super sad I didn’t use it sooner. It contains coconut oil, sodium chloride aka salt, sweet almond oil, spearmint, lime, vitamin e and rhassoul clay. It is also natural and organic!! It left me skin feeling super smooth and it smelt great.
Magnesium Epsom Salts $3.30
As I said early, I’ve really been into bath salts recently so I picked this box up from my local supermarket when I was all out of other brands. It helped my sore muscles and dissolved great in the bath. The only annoying thing is on the directions it says to use the whole box in one bath so this box doesn’t last long at all.
Norsca Forest Fresh Anti-perspirant Deodorant $6.00
I bought this spray deodorant when I was grocery shopping one day and I liked this one because it’s a pump spray. But when I used it, it burnt my underarms so badly that I had irritation and marks for a few weeks till it healed. I do have slightly sensitive skin but I can get away with using most products about 90% of the time. I tried using this again but had no luck at all so it’s going in the bin.
I received this hair treatment in a beauty box AGES ago and I finally got around to using it and I really loved it. This treatment is palm oil free, 100% vegan, sulphate Free, paraben Free and ph balanced. It contains some amazing ingredients that left my hair feeling soft and moisturised. I also popped some into a spray bottle with water to use to brush my hair and it worked just as well. I will definitely repurchase this because it’s affordable and works great.
I’m currently onto my second bottle of this. I love a good night cream and this ticks all the boxes. It’s 95% organic and contains Rosehip oil, cocoa seed butter, jojoba seed oil, Shea butter and Aloe leaf juice plus heaps of other lovely ingredients. I use this with some Rosehip oil on top. It leaves my face soft and moisturised while also helping heal my acne scarring and overall skin appearance, texture and elasticity. It’s also not too expensive and the bottle lasts ages!
These magnesium flakes were awesome. You get 800g in the $25.95 pack which lasted me ages. Magnesium flakes help aid with muscle recovery and raise your magnesium levels. I usually add a handful or two to a bath with hot water and just soak in there for a good 30 minutes. It comes in a resealable bag which makes it easy to store for next time.
Native Unearthed Natural Deodorant
This was another product that sat on a shelf for well over a year. When I did finally try to use it I had issues getting any product to actually apply to my underarms. It says to wet the stick before use but that still didn’t do anything. I also tried to find the links for this product and apparently this size and type no longer exists. Which is probably a good thing as it did jack all as a deodorant.
I bought this toner awhile ago when a vegan beauty website was closing and had a huge sale. I didn’t have any luck with this toner, it left my skin feeling weird and uncomfortable and the peppermint was not great with my sensitive skin. I was trying to find the link for this product and it seems like Cedar + Stone no longer make this toner which is probably a good thing.
Essano is a brand that I feel a bit unsure about. They are one of those companies that label their products are vegan but some of them aren’t actually vegan and contain things like honey in them. So if you do plan to buy their products just double check the ingredients to make sure they don’t contain any animal derived ingredients.
For the actual product, I did really like it. It removed makeup and eye makeup in a breeze and didn’t leave my skin feeling dry and stiff. It does say on the bottle that no rinsing is needed but whenever I use any micellar water I always rinse my face afterwards. It’s affordable and comes in two different size (100ML and 400ML) which is a great way to try it.
I’ve talked about Goddess Candles before but it’s a small business owned by my friend Casey and she makes amazing vegan candles and melts! She has a HUGE range of fragrances and none of them will disappoint. Vanilla caramel is my favourite flavour that she makes. She also makes Lush dupes which smell exactly the same as the product they are inspired by. The melts melt really well and last ages which a nice strong fragrance.
Patch Strips are basically a vegan version of bandaids that are an all natural wound care alternative that is crafted with 100% organic bamboo fibre. All Patch strips are hypoallergenic and biodegradable. They are also thimerosal free, merthiolate free, latex free and are cruelty free and vegan. They come in a few different types and come in a handy tub. These have been the only vegan bandaids I’ve been able to find.
This rosehip oil is definitely one of my holy grail skincare products. I’ve gone through at least 3-4 bottles of it and I’ve never been disappointed with it. Rosehip oil can help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks, maintain skin softness and hydration, improve the appearance of dry and sensitive skin, promote skin elasticity and texture and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I use the oil before bed and on top of a night cream to help with my acne scarring and overall skin appearance.
This was another product that I bought ages ago and didn’t get around to using it until the last few months. The first time I trie to use it the twist bottom stopped working so I couldn’t get the product out of the bottle to use it. I could only get 2-3 uses out of it before it was stuck so I didn’t get to trial it for a long period of time. So it was already not in my good books but recently Schmidt’s has been obtained by a parent company that tests on animals so I will not be buying anymore of their products to try and this basically unused deodorant is going in the bin because I have tried everything to try and get it out of the tube.
I’ve been trying to limit my waste and plastic consumption so I picked up these cotton pads awhile ago and I really love them. You get 70 certified organic cotton pads in a biodegradable and compostable bag for $4.95. They are more on the expensive side compared to the Kmart ones I use to buy which were $2 for 200. The Organyc ones are really great quality compared to the kmart ones and they don’t fall apart.
I love mixing my own hair oils and treatments and I bought this awhile ago to mix with some castor oil to make a hair growth treatment that I used once a week. I also used this argan oil on my hair by itself and it left my hair shiny and soft and helped my dry ends. It’s also super affordable which is a huge plus for me!
Eco Modern Essentials is my favourite essential oil brand because they are affordable, Australian made and come with a huge range of oils. They also do roller balls which make it easy and convenient to take with you. With the roller balls they have added a carrier oil so you don’t have to worry about mixing them and can apply straight to the skin.
This is a Lavender roller ball that contains sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, rosemary and of course lavender.
Calm and Distress is a blend of orange, patchouli and sandalwood essential oils. It smells amazing and is one of my favourite blends to diffuse. My best friend also loves the smell of it!! I diffuse this whenever I’m home and need to relax a bit.
Sinus Clear has a blend of lemongrass, lime, grapefruit and peppermint which helps treat symptoms of colds and flu, sinus and hay fever. The blend smells amazing and It has definitely helped me when I have had colds or sinus issues. As it’s in a roller ball it makes it super easy to carry with you when your out and apply. You can apply this one to wrists, forehead, temples or back of the neck.
Women’s Blend is a beautiful blend of cedarwood, geranium, lavender and ylang ylang essential oils. This blend is great for using during that time of the month to help with PMS symptoms or just to help calm the mind and body in general.
Lavender is my all time favourite essential oil so I go through it really quickly but this one always lasts me awhile and smells great.
I bought a trial pack of Dr Alkaitis skincare products awhile ago and the Organic Herbal Toner came in the pack. The toner is award winning and is suppose to be a wonderful multi-purpose product that can be used as a toner, skin balancer, astringent, after sun and anti-inflammatory. This toner also had heaps of reviews on Nourished Life so I was hopeful. Unfortunately I didn’t have any luck with this toner. It didn’t help my acne or hydrate my skin and it flared up my sensitive skin as well. It’s a really runny liquid that comes in a bottle with a pump lid and it’s awkward to use as it just spits out everywhere. I won’t repurchase this again.
I really like Aura Cacia essential oils because they are really cheap and they have a huge range of essential oils and other products. I purchased these ones from iherb. Tea tree has amazing healing properties and has so many different uses. Eucalyptus can also be used for heaps of different ways and also smells amazing.
I absolutely love this cotton buds because they are 100% biodegradable and are completely zero waste. They are expensive for 200 cotton buds but they don’t impact the planet at all so that’s ok in my books. They are made from sustainable bamboo sticks with a natural cotton tip.
This was another product that I received in a beauty box and I never got around to using it till recently. I want to say that I love rose and I love cinnamon but these two together smelt disgusting! I tried using it a few times but I couldn’t get past the smell. I don’t know why they thought rose and cinnamon together would be a good idea but it isn’t. After writing this I was trying to find the link for this product and it looks like the brand is no longer in business and no longer sell their awful rose and cinnamon skincare products. Which is probably is blessing if I’m being honest.
Thanks for reading!
Let me know what you think of this blog post and if you have tried any of these?!?!
