Since this month is Plastic Free July I thought I would share some of the small tips I use to cut down on my single-use plastic products.
What is Plastic Free July?
“Plastic Free July aims to raise awareness of the problems with single-use disposable plastic and challenges people to do something about it. The plastic bottles, bags and takeaway containers that we use just for a few minutes use a material that is designed to last forever”.

Here are some products that I use to cut down on single-use plastic products.
I purchase my bamboo toothbrushes from Nourished Life.
“These Bamboo & Charcoal Toothbrushes are made from environmentally sustainable bamboo, one of the fastest growing and environmentally friendly plants on earth. The bristles are made from a biodegradable nylon that has been infused with Activated Binchotan Charcoal, known for its natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties as well as its traditional teeth whitening power.”
These brushes are 100% Biodegradable & 100% plastic-free packaging.
Stainless Steel Straws:
Plastic straws made the ‘top ten’ items picked up on beach clean ups.
You can get bamboo and stainless steel straws. These types of straws are reusable and come with a cleaner to make it easier to clean them.
Bamboo Reusable Bamboo Knife, Fork and Spoon Set:
This set lasts a long time and are super easy to clean, “Clean in hot, soapy water and wipe dry for a long life”. I keep these in my bag for eating food at work or out with friends.
These brushes are made from natural bamboo which is one of the world’s most sustainable materials. Bamboo is 100% biodegradable so when you are finished with the brush it can be disposed of sustainably.
Nourished life sells them in 3 different sizes for different hair types.
I go through so many cotton pads for removing makeup, toning my face etc. So I was happy to find an alternative option to the usual cotton pads.
Organyc Beauty Cotton Pads come with 70 in a pack and they are made from certified organic cotton, packed in biodegradable and compostable bags.
We all use cotton buds but switching to a more environmental option helps.
Go Bamboo Biodegradable Cotton Buds come in a 200 pack and are a zero waste product. 100% biodegradable and made from sustainable bamboo sticks with a natural cotton tip.
WOTNOT wipes are 100% biodegradable and compostable. They are great for removing makeup! They come in a range of different options for different skin types.
“Ethique uses minimal, sustainable, biodegradable packaging for all of their bars. You can just toss the packaging into the compost knowing that it won’t hurt our precious oceans”.
Biodegradable Floss Picks:
I use the Pearl Bar Biodegradable Floss Picks. They come in a pack of 30. They are 100% biodegradable and you can place them in soil once finished and they will degrade.
Reusable Produce Bags:
We go through so many plastic bags when buying our fruit and veggies. A great alternative to that is reusable products bags.
I have these ones and you can get them in a 5 pack or a 8 pack. I have the 8 pack and I leave them in my car with my enviro shopping bags so I remember to take them with me.
